Life in the Ocean
A: List the major ideas, concepts or key points- point by point
•71 percent of its surface is covered with ocean
•Watery comprises more than 90 percent of the biosphere by volume, covers 360 million square kilometers
•The ocean has long been mysterious, its interior largely inaccessible.
•Marine animals have a greater diversity of body types than land animals do.
•Out of all the organisms that live in the ocean, however, only 250,000 species have been identified.
•Saltwater plants grow fast and die young because of the physical and chemical characteristics of the ocean.
•Seawater is about 800 times as dense as air and is much more viscous, so marine organisms and particles of food can float endlessly through the water
•The creatures of the ocean are extremely diverse.
•Many marine organisms stay in the upper waters, feeding on the zooplankton and phytoplankton found there.
•Density of water also buoys up organisms,
•Shorter wavelengths penetrate more deeply than the longer wavelengths
•The ocean does not contain much plant life, because concentrations of critical nutrients are lower than they are on land.
•Phosphorus and nitrogen, 1/10,000 of their concentration in fertile soil.
•well-mixed surface layer, called the thermocline separates the warm surface from the colder.
•Chilly water is richly with nutrients
•Near-shore habitats are liminal areas, places simultaneously sea and land, where some forms of marine life.
•marine ecosystems have been left out of most discussions about saving biodiversity.

The ocean over more than 71 percent of the planet. The ocean is long and mysterious it is a diversity place. Out of all the organisms that live in the ocean, however, only 250,000 species have been identified. Because of the depth of the ocean it has been impossible for scientist to go and discover what’s is beyond. There are more parts in the planets that scientist haven’t been able to discovered. The ocean is part of the groups. They know something and what I like is that they are still trying to explored it. I understand that the planets is full of water, 71 percent. That the ocean is big, but things are changing. Marine ecosystems have been left out of most discussions about saving biodiversity. It shocks me that some people wants to stop trying, to discovers what else is beyond those boundaries. They don’t really know much about the ocean, their information is limited. And their are giving up. The ocean is place of more living things that are in land, they just don’t know much about it. I disagree that it is becoming a matter of importance. They should put more work into it, and try to see what else they can do. In the ocean there can be things people can never imagine.
What?
The ocean is a very diverse and big, but since some scientists are giving up they don’t want to keep looking for more living things that could be living down deep in the blue sea.
Say’s who?
James W. Nybakken and Steven K. Webster specializing in marine biology and the ocean.
What if?
The pressured that increase while going to deep into the ocean couldn’t have any effect, the scientists would be able to go deeper and discover more things.
This would help then, to not give up.
What does it remains you of?
A movie that I saw about the planet. It was about the ocean, and its living things. The ocean is beautiful, and it amazingly big. But even though the movie was long, it wasn’t able to cover all the important things that are in the ocean.
